Shanghai International Studies University Library was founded in 1950. The independent library on Hongkou Campus was officially established in 1955, and the Library on Songjiang Campus was built in 2003. Currently, The Document and Information Center (the Library on Songjiang Campus) has become a landmark building in Songjiang District.
Shanghai International Studies University Library has a total area of 22000 square meters and approximately 2600 seats. The two campuses support inter-campus book return and borrowing, enabling resource sharing.
The Library consists of five subordinate units, namely the Resource and Technology Support Center, the Learning and Space Service Center, the Subject and Reading Support Center, the Special Collections and Digital Academy Center and the Office. Adhering to the user-centered service philosophy, the SISU Library actively provides diverse and multi-level services, including document circulation, reading services, reference consultation, purchase of reader-recommended books, interlibrary loans, document delivery, subject services and reading promotion. It has become a crucial platform for Chinese and international students to read extensively, acquire knowledge of various disciplines and access diverse information. Teachers and students can search for both print and electronic resources of the Library through a unified search portal. Furthermore, the new system is compatible with a variety of terminals and provides a range of personalized services, significantly enhancing the user experience for both teachers and students.
